Espoo Museum of Modern Art ist ein Kunstmuseum, das von der Espoo Art Museum Foundation gepflegt wird.
EMMA ist ein Zentrum, das Erfahrungen und Wissen bietet. Die Räumlichkeiten im WeeGee-Gebäude bieten einen Rahmen für qualitativ hochwertige internationaleAusstellungen. Die 5.000 Quadratmeter große Ausstellungsfläche ist die größte in jedem Museum in Finnland. Ein Teil der Kunstsammlung Saastamoinen Stiftung (mehr als 2.600 Werke in allen) ist dauerhaft, teilweise in wechselnden, thematischen Ausstellungen. Der historische Teil der Sammlung umfasst die fnnische klassische Moderne aus dem Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts, während ein Teil seiner zeitgenössischen Kunst die internationale Kunst umfasst. Die Sammlung gehört zu den bedeutendsten privaten Sammlungen in Finnland.
Die EMMA-Kollektion (ca. 2.600 Werke) umfasst Werke in Espoo-Kommunalämtern, anderen öffentlichen Gebäuden sowie Außenbereichen. Ein Teil der Sammlung ist im Museum zu sehen. Die Sammlung wurde in den 1950er Jahren begonnen und konzentriert sich fast ausschließlich auf die finnische zeitgenössische Kunst.
Die museumspädagogische Abteilung bietet Führungen, Unterrichtsmaterialien, Aktivitäten sowie Veranstaltungen und andere Projekte. Vorlesungs- und Unterrichtspakete sind auf Anfrage erhältlich.
Ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Tätigkeit der EMMA ist die Erhaltung, Forschung, Archivierung und Dokumentation.
Das Gebäude
EMMA befindet sich im Ausstellungszentrum WeeGee, in einem ehemaligen Druckereigebäude. Tapfer erinnert es sich an seine Industriegeschichte: der konkrete Riese bietet seinen Besuchern kulturelle Erfahrungen mit fünf verschiedenen Museen.

EMMA is a center providing experiences and knowledge. The premises in the WeeGee building offer a setting for high-quality international exhibitions. The 5,000 square-meter exhibition space is the largest in any museum in Finland.
A part of the Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection (more than 2,600 works in all) is on permanent display, partially in changing, thematic exhibitions. The collection’s historical section comprises Finnish classical modernism from the beginning of the 20th century, while part of its contemporary art section includes international art. The collection is among the foremost private collections in Finland.
EMMA’s collection (approx. 2,600 works) includes works on display in Espoo municipal offices, other public buildings, as well as outdoor areas. Part of the collection is on display in the museum. The collection was started in the 1950s and concentrates almost entirely on Finnish contemporary art.
The EMMA museum pedagogy department provides guided tour services, teaching materials, activities, as well as events and other projects. Lecture and teaching packages are available on request.
A fundamental part of EMMA’s activity comprises conservation, research, archiving and documentation.

The building
EMMA is located at the WeeGee Exhibition Center in a former printing house. Bravely recalling its industrial history, the concrete giant offers its visitors cultural experiences with fve different museums.
EMMA – Espoon modernin taiteen museo lukeutuu Suomen merkittävimpiin taidemuseoihin.
EMMAn entiseen painosaliin rakennetuista 5000 neliön näyttelytiloista puolet täyttää jatkuvasti esillä oleva Saastamoisen säätiön taidekokoelma. Toisella puolella vaihtuvat kotimaiset ja kansainväliset taidenäyttelyt.
EMMAn perustana on kaksi taidekokoelmaa; EMMAn oma, entinen Espoon kaupungin kokoelma sekä Saastamoisen säätiön taidekokoelma Saastamoisen säätiön kokoelmasta (yli 2000 teosta) merkittävä osa on aina yleisön nähtävillä. Kokoelman historiallinen osa käsittää suomalaista klassista modernismia 1900-luvun alusta, kun taas osa kokoelman nykytaiteesta esittelee myös kansainvälistä taidetta. Se on yksi tärkeimmistä maassamme olevista yksityisistä taidekokoelmista.
EMMAn kokoelmaan (n. 2500 teosta) kuuluvat Espoon virastoihin, laitoksiin sekä ulkotiloihin sijoitetut taideteokset. Osaa kokoelman teoksista esitellään museon tiloissa. Taidekokoelmaa on kerätty 1950-luvulta lähtien. Espoon modernin taiteen museo hankkii pääasiassa suomalaista nykytaidetta.
EMMAn museo-opetus tarjoaa opastuspalveluja, opetusmateriaalia, toimintaa ja oheisohjelmaa. Lisänä ovat erilaiset projektit sekä tilattavat luento- ja opetuspaketit.
EMMAn toimintaan oleellisena osana kuuluvat myös tärkeät perustyöt kuin konservointi, tutkimus, arkistointi ja dokumentointi.

EMMA sijaitsee näyttelykeskus WeeGeellä, joka on uuteen eloon herännyt Weilin & Göös – yhtiön kirjapainotalo Tapiolassa. Teollista historiaansa rohkeasti muisteleva betoninen jättilä nen tarjoaa kävijöilleen kulttuurielämyksiä viiden erilaisen museon voimin.
