Presse-Museum

Das Pressemuseum befindet sich im 2. Stock eines Wohnhauses, in der Maizonos Str. 200 in Patras. Es liegt einen Häuserblock hinter der St. Andreas Kathedrale, die als Wahrzeichen der Stadt Patras gilt. Das Museum befindet sich in der Innenstadt, integriert sich mit ihr auf architektonischer Ebene, was sich in der Identität der Exponate wiederspiegelt. Dies ist in erster Linie ein Stadtmuseum, das durch die Presse seine Geschichte bewahrt.

GESCHICHTE

Das Pressemuseum wurde von der Redaktionsvereinigung der Tageszeitungen von Peloponnes Epirus- (Ionischen) Inseln gegründet, die seit 1956 in Patras ansässig ist. Am 28.05.1957 öffnete das Museum seine Türen. Sein Zweck ist die Sammlung und die Beibehaltung von Zeitungen, Zeitschriften, Manuskripten und anderen Dokumenten, die als Informationsquelle über die lokale Geschichte dienen sollen.

Äußerst wichtige Exponate sind hier zu finden, wie 1.000 verschiedene Zeitungstitel von 1815 bis heute, die nicht nur aus der Stadt Patras sondern auch aus anderen Gebieten Griechenlands stammen, 1000 verschiedene Zeitschriften seit 1852 und auch 67 Tagebücher in der Zeit von 1879 bis 1970 sind ausgestellt, seltene Editionen und Buchtitel, die im Laufe der Jahre in Vergessenheit geraten sind, sind nur ein Teil der reichen Sammlung des Museums.

The Press Museum is housed on the 2nd oor of a residential building, on Maizonos 200 Street in Patras. It is located one block behind the Staint Andrew tampie, which is the emblematic temple of the city. The museum, which is organically adjusted with the urban environment of the city,gives with its urban architectural identity the content of its exhibits. It is mainly a local museum which saves, through the Press, its history.

HISTORY, PURPOSE AND MUSEUM EXHIBITS

The Press Museum was established by the Author’s Union of Daily Newspapers of Peloponnese Epirus-(Ionian)Islands based in Patras in 1956 and it is open since 05.28.1957. Its purpose is the collection and the retention of newspapers, magazines, manuscripts and other documents that form the source of information about the local history.Extremely important exhibits such as 1,000 di erent newspaper titles since 1815 till today,which cover, not only the city of Patras and aslo the other areas of Greece, 1000 di erent magazines since 1852 and also, 67 diaries of the period from 1879 to 1970, rare editions and book titles that got lost through the years, it is just one part of the rich collection of the Museum.
